Four unixes on one disk

Note: The next post in the Office series needs another week, I don't have access to the right VM at this time.

I have mentioned the NEO layout before and since I provided a file for it for FreeBSD, after being told that the BSDs weren't covered at all, I wanted to at least have a look into it. Since I already ran into problems with that layout in virtual machines I wanted to do this on real hardware.

Jabber to Dot Matrix

So I had a dot matrix printer available. A Panasonic KX-P1124 and it worked out of the box. Even with CUPS via a USB adapter! That was a bit too easy.

That's when I started to think about what one could print on one of those loud slow printers and decided to put the printer on a FreeBSD 7 miniITX machine in the basement which runs a jabber bot which then sends the messages through LPR/LPD.
