More about Centrifuge security

Centrifuge is running really nice at the CMC right now, we switched to a newer snapshot last week and the feature to fetch Library of Congress data for ISBN numbers seems to be a great hit with volunteers.
This is the first snapshot to include nearly all the changes toward moving to a generic system with CMC-specific things moved out and so far I think I didn't screw up.

Output formats

Due to personal preferences of previous coordinators I didn't implement any other output format other than the mailing labels (also to just get it done).
With a rather simply hack I now amended that to a list of email addresses, too. Once I have a reliable feature to deliver nice popups of 'save as' dialogs csv files will definitely be available as well.
I'm wondering if there are any other output formats that would make sense...

UPDATE: CSV functionality is added and mailing labels are outputted to csv files and work nicely together with OpenOffice Calc.

Security in Centrifuge

If this application is to ever make it on to the public internet, there is still a lot of security issues to confront.
SQL injection/CSS is what, in my opinion, is already best taken care of with consistent escaping and scrubbing of variables in nearly all places.

The forgotten feature: The Library of Congress

There is one feature that I implemented shortly before creating this blog that probably should be mentioned here.

Centrifuge takes advantage of the SRU (Search and Retrieve over URL) service of the Library of Congress. What does that mean?

TODO for Launch

I have tried to pin down what would be a showstopper until Centrifuge can be made public, or to be more precise: What will not work for any entity that is not the CMC.
