The 2008.0 handbooks are now linked to on the Gentoo main site, though still marked as draft while 2008.0 is in beta. There were several changes to the handbook in the last week and I'll integrate these over the next two to three days. Until then not all links point towards the 2008.0 handbook in German but if you can't wait, click here.

X.Org is well on its way to getting rid of lots of xorg.conf magic and moving it into obscure elements of HAL. Well, obscure for now. Here is to hoping that they soon come up with lots more documentation.

Yesterday the 4.0.2 ebuilds for KDE entered the portage tree and the changelog indicated that panel height was now variable. So I couldn't resist any longer and switched to my favorite environment. This morning enough packages had compiled to give it a try and it's working really great. The system is responsive and most everything fits nicely on the screen.

A few weeks ago I still had some money left over from Christmas and decided to spent it on a new gadget and I'm really satisfied with what I got: the Asus Eee.
